About the Department: The Department of Botany in S.B.M.S. College was started in August 1989. Initially the subject was taught in the higher secondary level. The subject was introduced as general subject in the three year degree course in the academic session of 1996-1997. The major course in Botany in three year degree course was introduced in 2000. The department received government concurrence for degree course in August, 2001.
Aims & Objective:
(a) To spread information and experiences of Botany as a subject in the locality.
(b) To create awareness
(c) To encourage the learners
(d) To provide scope for future study
(e) To develop overall personality with learners quantity
Vision: The department has ambitions plans to explore the biodiversity of the greater Sualkuchi through project which has ample scale for researchers as well as students for formulating research programme for higher studies. The department holds seminars, workshop etc. regularly related to the exploration of the resources of this locality.
